Martial Arts as Life Practice

At Winnipeg’s Evolution Martial Arts, Sifu Joel Ledlow teaches both Duo Ji Kung Fu and Jeet Kune Do (JKD). Duo Ji means Many Ways, and Duo Ji Kung Fu fosters personal growth and an active understanding of many ways of self-defense. Developed by Bruce Lee, the dynamic martial art of Jeet Kune Do emphasizes adaptability, practicality, and efficiency. Sifu Joel, who began his martial arts journey as a teen wrestler in Oklahoma and continued it in LA, Japan and Winnipeg, will explore how learning, practicing, and teaching martial arts  has contributed to his understanding of our common humanity and responsibilities to each other.

Centering Thought

“To me, the extraordinary aspect of martial arts lies in its simplicity. The easy way is also the right way, and martial arts is nothing at all special; the closer to the true way of martial arts, the less wastage of expression there is.” ~ Bruce Lee
