Keeping Pace with Change

“Change alone is unchanging,” declared the Greek philosopher Heraclitus, which seems obvious to anyone who takes their eyes off the distant horizon or the rapidly receding past to notice what is happening around them. And the older we get, the more rapid the pace of change seems to become, even as changes within ourselves become harder. So while some may speak of “embracing change,” I’m content to accept it as inevitable, try to keep pace with it, and perhaps surf the waves of change for pleasure.

The Choir will sing.
