CUC Offers Pastoral Care to Young Adults

CUC Offers Pastoral Care Support to Young Adults

The CUC’s Pastoral Care Team for Young Adults offers flexible and accessible care and support that young adults can access anywhere, whether or not they are currently connected to a congregation or minister. Our three Pastoral Care Team members are ministers with experience providing care and supportive listening, with a special interest in supporting young adults through the many ups and downs of life. Pastoral care can be provided by phone, through Zoom video, or by text.

Religious Exploration for Children and Youth

Our Religious Exploration (RE) programs welcome and affirm all families.

While Unitarian Universalists have a set of guiding Principles, we are each free to develop our own theology. Children and youth may or may not believe in a god, and their beliefs may change over time. Our programs embrace and model theological diversity.

Young people ages four to 20 may explore and develop their own values and beliefs through play, art, stories, music, spiritual practices and thoughtful conversation, during children's RE and youth groups.  Child care is provided during church services for younger children.

Children

Children are a vibrant part of the life of our church. They begin most Sunday mornings in the sanctuary before being sung downstairs and into their groups.

Several times a year we worship all together during multigenerational services.  And a few times a year school-aged children come together to explore a theme through circle worship and activities.

Religious Exploration (RE) programs for children run on Sunday mornings from 10:30 to about 11:45 a.m. Parents and guardians are invited to spend time in fellowship with others, while groups finish their morning plans.  Please enjoy visiting upstairs until 11:45 a.m.

We also provide childcare until 1:00 to make it easy for parents to volunteer or attend after-church discussions or meetings. We ask that you connect with your child after RE, help them get a snack (or provide a lunch), then take them to childcare. NEW this year: childcare will be provided beginning at 9:15 a.m. on Choir Sundays.

Youth

Religious Exploration for youth (13 through 20) is about more than what happens at church on Sunday mornings.  Youth and adult Youth Advisors work together to co-create a Web of Youth Ministry, a model comprised of eight interconnected elements.

Youth Group runs on Sunday mornings from 10:30 until about noon.  Youth often begin the morning with the rest of the congregation in the sanctuary, before being sung out to their group.

Several times a year we worship all together in services intended for all ages, and youth take leadership roles in one service a year for the whole church, as well as creating worship several times a year just for youth. They are welcome and invited to help lead elements of our services throughout the year.
