This course is for people who want to take their knowledge and skills to the next level in terms of trans identity and who want to create a congregation that is fully inclusive and affirming of the full breadth of gender diversity.

Over eight sessions participants will deeply explore the intersection of trans identity, spirituality, and faith community, and gain the grounding, context, and skills to transform themselves and our congregation.

We’re offering two options – afternoon or evening – on the second and fourth Thursday of the month, from February 11 to May 27, 2021.

Trans Inclusion in Congregations

Join your host, Andrea James, DLFD, along with educators Rev. Mykal Slack and Zr. Alex Kapitan, of the Transforming Hearts Collective on video.

Second and fourth Thursdays of the month, either afternoon (2:00-4:00 p.m.) OR evening (6:00-8:00 p.m.), from February 11 to May 27, 2021

A note about format

Rev. Mykal and Alex have provided educational videos to watch and discuss (along with many additional resources). Participants will have two ways to engage with this material: you may either watch the video on your own at a time convenient to you, or watch on Zoom with your group during the first hour of each session. Your choice can change from week to week; we want to make this as accessible as possible for you.

For six of our eight sessions, the FIRST hour will be spent watching the video together on Zoom. If you prefer to watch the video on your own, you do not need to attend this first hour. All participants should be present for the SECOND hour for our group discussion.

Our first and last sessions will one hour only (3:00-4:00 p.m. and 7:00-8:00 p.m.) and there will be no videos; these will be introductory and wrap-up sessions.

Registration is now closed.
